Public Statement Regarding Grass Cutting

Published 23rd June 2021 by The Town Council

The Town Council is fully aware of issues in respect of the delay in cutting of grass verges and amenity land across the parish and apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

This situation has arisen due to contractor issues, namely:

  • the very wet weather throughout May and the start of June that made it impossible to effectively cut grass;
  • the recent clement weather which has led to (and continues to) promote aggressive growth;
  • contractor staffing problems
  • contractor equipment failure / breakdown

The contractor is doing everything humanly possible to rectify these issues across the parish and it is hoped that this unfortunate but genuine situation will be rectified shortly.

We ask that you remain patient during this difficult period, however, verbal and written personal attacks against staff members and elected Members cannot be tolerated.

Please note that we are unable to cut hedgerows between the months of March and August due to bird nesting legislation unless there is a genuine need to address an health and safety matter.
