Beach Huts
The Mablethorpe beach hut season has proven very popular and bookings continue at a steady pace for use at weekends during the winter period (Central Promenade). The working group will meet in October to assess assets, income, maintenance and review charges in order to make justifiable budget recommendations for the 2018 season.
CCTV 7 Partnership
The power supply to the camera at the junction of the High Street and Victoria Road has been reinstated and a replacement camera will be installed within the next few weeks.
Cemetery (Trusthorpe)
The grave levelling and re-turfing of graves commenced at the end of September and will continue during the winter period. Planting of the remembrance garden was undertaken in early October.
Clerks News
The publication of the next Clerk’s News will be on 27th November 2017; anyone having relevant council information they wish to be included, please forward for consideration to the office as soon as possible.
Coastal Community Challenge (Big Local)
The Town Council continues to work in partnership with CCC to explore the development of a park/play area in the parish. A partnership Christmas event for Mablethorpe is complete and information pertaining to CCC activities is available on the CCC website www.biglocalccc.org.uk Individual elected Members are encouraged to attend CCC meetings in their own right.
Emergency Plan
The Town Council Emergency Plan has been reviewed and submitted to LCC for completion and will be presented at a future meeting of the Town Council for formal adoption.
Flood Awareness
Residents are encouraged to consider the following three key ways to further prepare for possible future flooding:
- Ensure they are signed up to get free flood warnings to their home/mobile phone, text and email –so that if they are at work or on holiday the message can reach them. This is easy to do by:
- Calling Floodline on 0345 988 1188
- Registering online at www.gov.uk/flood
- Encourage their friends, neighbours and relatives to complete personal flood plans to ensure they know steps to take before a flood or when a flood warning is issued.
- Volunteer to be part of the Emergency Planning Group who work on the Parish Community Emergency Plan and Resource Directory and assist in the event of emergencies within the parish.
Those who have previously signed up are urged to check that their contact details are correct on their registration.
Keep Lincolnshire Moving
Last year Lincolnshire County Council repaired around 100,000 potholes across the county and has a dedicated team inspecting the highways continually; however with over 5,000 miles of road to look after, it’s impossible to be aware of all issues.
Residents are encouraged to report potholes, faulty street lights or damaged paving problems they encounter. In the first instance, new highways faults should be reported online at www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/faultreporting, while for general enquiries you should email cschighways@lincolnshire.gov.uk or call 01522 782070.
Reporting things in this way will ensure the fault gets passed to the right officer as soon as possible.
Lincolnshire Association of Local Councils (LALC)
Several training courses have been attended by Cllrs and staff over the past few months and reservations have been made for further training events during 2017. Please note all Councillor requests for training must be made via the Town Council office.
Mablethorpe Market & NABMA
Mablethorpe Market continues to operate to capacity with no reportable issues. The summer illuminations market held on Mablethorpe High Street on Saturday 29th July 2017 as part of the ‘switch on’ celebrations was successful with enquires being made for the 2018 event. Men’s Shed Project
The Men’s Shed planning permission will be decided within the next few weeks and the Terms of Reference were discussed and agreed (in principal) at the recent Admin Committee meeting.
St Mary’s Conservation Area
Regular Health & Safety testing and emission recording continues to be undertaken by ELDC, and the Environment Agency continues to monitor the site. Minor maintenance has been undertaken by community payback and volunteers in partnership with CCC (Big Local). The end of season cut took place in September and the pond clearance and inspection remains outstanding.
VAT
The Town Council has registered for VAT to ensure it complies with legislation pertaining to business transactions. This includes (but is not limited to) beach huts, floral displays, Christmas trees, memorials and plaques within Trusthorpe cemetery. A full list will be compiled and available from the Town Clerk’s office by the end of October.
Mayoral Duties
The Mayor & Consort held their Civic Service on Sunday 15th October. Along with the Deputy Mayor/Consort they have attended many civic events in the parish and across Lincolnshire over the summer/autumn period (to date) and find effective networking at the forefront of attendance at such events.
